The New Constructivism of Fletcher Benton

Be the first to review this product

This retrospective of San Francisco-based kinetic sculptor Fletcher Benton is heavily illustrated with hundreds of color and black and white images up to 9 x 12 inches. Originally an abstract painter in the 1950s and 60s, Benton moved to sculpture, arranging boxes and geometric forms into three-dimensional "paintings" that changed with the viewer's perspective, ultimately building such towering structures as Double Folded Circle Ring, Steel Watercolor 99, and Steel Watercolor Triangle Ring, a 66 foot-high construction in bright red that stands in a plaza in Cologne. The text is in English, German, and French.
